The Ghana Police Service has intercepted a cache of firearms and ammunition allegedly being smuggled to Kpandai. The action follows intelligence received by the service on January 27, 2026 , about an unknown person on a blue royal motorcycle, allegedly transporting arms and ammunition to Kpandai in the Northern region.

Police report says a surveillance team was immediately deployed to track the suspect who was moving from Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange towards the Agbogbloshie bus terminal. The suspect, upon realising he was being tracked, abandoned several parcels wrapped in black nylon bags. Police inspection of the abandoned packages revealed one A-Tac semi- automatic shotguns and two boxes of cartridges containing a total of 500 BB cartridges.

Despite a coordinated search , Police were unable to arrest the motorcycle rider. The Police have, however, assured the public that efforts and investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspect.
