Member of Parliament for Akropong South, Sammi Awuku, has disclosed that the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid private visits to his contenders following his rousing win in the Presidential Primaries held on January 31.
The move by the flag-bearer and former Vice President is part of broader stakeholder engagements to discuss the party’s future as it prepares to assume power after the 2028 elections.
Speaking on the Kokrokoo morning show on Monday, April 20, the Akuapim North Member of Parliament, Sammi Awuku, explained that Dr. Bawumia opted for the private visit to avoid the notion of a photo opportunity.
“Dr. Bawumia believes that the enterprise NPP has to find ways for members of the party to come together to rebuild the party. Dr. Bawumia, according to his narration after his visits, left the meetings very satisfied that his brothers will genuinely support him. He has no reason to doubt them”, Sammi Awuku said.
Sammi Awuku further explained that the reconciliation process is vital to the NPP winning the next general elections because some aggrieved individuals have the potential of rendering services that would bring the party to power, hence the need to bring them together.
