Former Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has issued an emotional farewell message to Ghanaians following the end of his tenure, expressing pride in what the national team achieved while urging the country to continue building a stronger future for Ghanaian football.
In a heartfelt post shared on his official social media page, Queiroz reflected on his time with the Black Stars, saying football is a game of constant learning and that every setback should inspire greater ambition.”Football, like life, teaches us one timeless lesson: you either win or you learn,” he wrote.
The Portuguese tactician said he leaves Ghana with a sense of accomplishment, but also with the belief that the Black Stars must continue striving for greater success.
“I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more. Reaching a higher level should never be the destination—it should be the beginning of even greater ambitions,” he stated.
Black Stars’ Future Starts Beyond the Pitch
Queiroz stressed that the long-term success of the Black Stars would depend not only on performances on the field but also on investments in player development and creating the right structures to nurture Ghana’s football talent.
“The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch. Black Stars’ success must start off the field by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent,” he said.
Gratitude to GFA, Players and Fans
The former coach expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Ghana Football Association, thanking the President and Executive Council for giving him the opportunity to lead the senior national team.
“It was an honor and privilege to serve the country and the Black Stars,” he wrote.
He also paid tribute to his players and technical staff, praising their courage, commitment and unwavering dedication throughout his time in charge.
‘We Restored Respect and Credibility’
Addressing Ghanaian supporters, Queiroz acknowledged that although the team did not achieve complete sporting success, he believes it succeeded in restoring the Black Stars’ reputation on the international stage.
“To the fans, we cannot claim complete sporting satisfaction, but we can proudly say that we honoured the colours of Ghana and restored respect and credibility to the Black Stars on football’s greatest stage,” he said.
Queiroz ended his farewell message on an optimistic note, thanking Ghanaians for their support and expressing confidence in the future of the national team.
“Thank you, Ghana. The journey starts now. To the future.”
