A 43-year-old TikToker, Camelia Alhassan, has been sentenced to one year in prison with hard labour.
She pleaded guilty to the charge of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace. According to the court, her sentence will serve as a deterrent to other like-minded persons.
The facts, as narrated by the Prosecution, are that the Ghana Police Service recently intercepted a video on TikTok circulated by the suspect, Camelia Alhassan. In the video she was heard using unprintable words against President John Mahama and his wife, and asking God to kill them. She also accused the President of engaging in sexual intercourse with Mzbel.
Prosecution further noted that these offensive and abusive statements against the President of the Republic of Ghana are likely to provoke a breach of the peace.
The Police therefore launched a manhunt for the suspect. With technical support from the National Signal Bureau, the accused was tracked and arrested on July 9, 2026
