Sarah Adwoa Safo, daughter of the late Professor Emeritus Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, has assured the general public and members of the Kristo Asafo Missions that the funeral and burial of the revered founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, will proceed as scheduled, despite the ongoing family tensions.
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia programme with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Tuesday, July 28, the former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya and former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection said all preparations for the burial have been completed, and there are no plans to postpone the much-awaited ceremony.
According to her, the late industrialist, philanthropist and clergyman will be laid to rest on July 30, followed by the final funeral rites at the Independence Square on 31, and the same at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on August 8, as previously announced.
“Our father’s burial will happen. Nothing can stop me from organising my father’s burial. Everything has been put in place, and we are ready to give him a befitting farewell,” she said.
She alleged that her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, became dissatisfied after learning the contents of their late father’s last testament and has since sought to disrupt the funeral arrangements.
According to her, the family dispute is rooted in disagreements over the will rather than the burial itself, insisting that the controversy would not derail plans to honour the late Kristo Asafo leader with a dignified burial.
Her comments come amid heightened public attention over the succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission and recent events involving members of the Safo family.
