Eleven people have been killed and 13 others injured in a multiple-vehicle crash on the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.


The accident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, between the Ofankor Barrier and the John Teye enclave, involving 24 people.
Seven vehicles were involved in the crash, comprising two tipper trucks, two Sprinter buses, two saloon cars and a tricycle.


The 13 injured victims were transported to the Achimota Hospital for medical attention.


The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said rescue teams from the Amasaman Fire Station and its headquarters were dispatched to the scene to assist with rescue operations.


Speaking to the media on Thursday, August 13, DO1 Emmanuel Bonnie said investigations were underway to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.


The incident has caused significant disruption to traffic along the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch, with authorities expected to provide further updates as investigations continue
