Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has urged aspirants and delegates participating in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regional executive elections to maintain mutual respect throughout the electoral process.
He said the elections had so far been peaceful, with candidates given the opportunity to campaign and delegates exercising their right to choose their preferred candidates.
Speaking to the media at Mankessim, where the Central Regional elections are being held, Mr Afenyo-Markin described the exercise as a family affair and expressed satisfaction with the absence of violence.
“What I can say is that so far so good. A very peaceful atmosphere. Candidates are campaigning. It’s a family affair. No violence. Mutual respect. That is the beauty of it,” he said.
He said the outcome of the elections should ultimately reflect the efforts of the various aspirants and the choices of delegates.
Mr Afenyo-Markin urged all participants to continue to exercise restraint and respect as the party concludes its regional-level elections.
